Wall Pilates calorie calculator

This calculator estimates the calories you use in a wall Pilates session, across a week and the total minutes you'll train over 28 days. Enter your body weight, session length and days per week.

How it's calculated

It uses the MET method: calories = MET × body weight in kg × hours. MET (metabolic equivalent of task) expresses how hard an activity is compared with resting, which is about 1 MET.

We use 3.0 METs, a typical value for light-to-moderate Pilates-style floor and mat exercise. A 68 kg person doing 15 minutes uses about 3.0 × 68 × 0.25 ≈ 51 kcal. Weekly energy is that figure times your sessions per week; total minutes is session length × days × 4 weeks.

This is a gross estimate that includes the energy you'd use at rest anyway, and real effort varies with tempo, holds and fitness. Use it to compare options, not to plan food precisely.

Turn the numbers into a plan with the wall Pilates challenge builder, which sizes every session to the minutes and days you enter here.

Frequently asked questions

How many calories does wall Pilates burn?

Roughly 3 kcal per kg of body weight per hour on a 3.0 MET estimate: about 45 kcal in 15 minutes at 60 kg, or 60 kcal at 80 kg.

Is 3.0 METs accurate for wall Pilates?

It's a reasonable middle estimate for controlled mat work. Slow, mobility-focused sessions may be lower; fast circuits with wall sits and squat pulses may be higher.

Can I lose weight with wall Pilates alone?

It's possible but slow, because the energy used is modest. Wall Pilates works best for weight loss alongside daily walking and a small calorie deficit.

Why do I need my weight?

Energy use scales with body weight in the MET formula. Your weight is used only for this estimate.
